Anyway, t...Sorry, I was the one who used your name. Anyway, thanks for the brilliant review. I appreciate the lack of distinction with non-English Celts. Others, for example, comment on the fact that John Dee was Welsh (I am related to him via my mother). The truth is that many factors influence magic, but England, for some reason has become the alchemists crucible, which has stirred it all up and formed the new magical "religions" - Wicca, Druidry, Golden Dawn, OTO, Inner Light, Enochia etc., etc., etc.

Why has this happened, I often ask myself. My own belief is that England has harboured some great magical power left over from the time when the Druids were the greatest magicians in the world - or so the Roman believed. 1300 years of Christianity and building churches all over the original sacred places has not worked, and now it is all coming out once more. You clearly cannot keep a good magician down, alive or long dead.

Talking of the latter, my favourite story in the book is of the old Welsh farmer, Mr. James, who had a direct line of magic right back to Merlin. As the interviewee, David Conway, who was taught by Mr. J believes, you can still take a walk in the wild woods and perhaps meet both of them today. That's what I call Magic.

So, Dear Badwitch, fear not retribution. Merlin always promised that the Celts (and their magic) would be back one day to sweep away the invaders. Looks as if it happening. The old man will definitely be on your side - not to mention Mr. J. You are in good company.

Best wishes

RichardRomerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05964698987536544132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4152532055090335650.post-32699709721635343032009-08-05T22:44:52.472+01:002009-08-05T22:44:52.472+01:00Someone left a lovely comment on my blog, but unfo...Someone left a lovely comment on my blog, but unfortunately they addressed me by my real name. I cannot edit comments left, so I had to delete it.
