Back to Magic School: Shamanism, Witchcraft, Spells


It is back to school time! Here's a run-down of some of the evening class and weekend courses you can do on magic and witchcraft in London this autumn:

Shamanism Healer Training 
Six-day, weekend course with Anthea of Shamanism and Evolving Consciousness from 7 September

Certified shamanism healer training. Classes include introduction to shamanic journeying, meeting your allies and healing techniques, outdoor healing with plants and trees, healing the body and soul retrieval.

The Effective Spell: Chaos Magick for Results
Four-week course with Mark Vincent on Tuesday evenings from 10 September

The work on results is addressed by chaos magic, which uses the subconscious mind’s abilities, a process pioneered in the 20th century by occultist Austin Osman Spare. Mark teaches methods from chaos magic and also self-hypnosis in this intensive course, in which each participant sets a magical goal then works to achieve it by the end of week four. The price includes email backup support during the process. Also a CD/download, available only to students. Now in its eighth year, this unique course gets outstandingly positive testimonials from former participants.

Spellbound: A History of Magic
Two terms, 19 classes, starting 14 October, with Tom Waters, author of Cursed Britain

This evening class course on the history of magic at Imperial College, in London offers to teach the true history of magic, witchcraft and occultism from ancient times to the present day. It is a truely in-depth course on Monday evenings.

Constructing the Witch: How Women became Maleficent
One-day course on Saturday, 19 October with Ann Jeffers

This study day will examine the question of the association of women with magic and witchcraft. The course will examine the rise of the religious concept of ‘witches’ as both an ancient and modern construct through looking at texts and images. Religious/theological, sociological, political and economic factors will be discussed and assessed in attempting to understand the association of women with witchcraft.
