Having Some Fun Days Out Until the End of the Month

Everyone needs a bit of a break from normal service from time to time, and I'm taking a holiday over the next two weeks. As well as really needing a change of pace, the last two weeks of May include both my own birthday and that of my husband. We're planning what these days seems to be called a staycation, although we won't be just staying at home. I'll be going to festivals and short visits to other places as well as exploring more of London.

I've also taken the decision to blog a bit less frequently until the end of May. Instead of writing 5-6 posts per week, I'll be sharing stuff on A Bad Witch's Blog 2-3 times per week. I'll also be cutting down on my Facebook, Twitter and email time. However, I will try to keep my events page updated, so you can find out what talks and workshops are happening. I'll also share a few snaps to Instagram - you can find me there as starzalucya. 

My Candle Magic Book Has Sold a Milestone 9,000 Copies

I  got some great news from my publisher: Pagan Portals - Candle Magic has now sold more than 9,000 copies. 

It was the first of my books on witchcraft published by Moon Books, and has done really well since it was launched at Treadwell's Bookshop in February 2016. I want to thank everyone who has bought my books, attended my events and supported me by writing reviews over the years. 

I also want to thank Treadwell's for keeping all my books in stock. My most recent book to be published, a gothic novel called Erosion, was also launched with an event at the lovely esoteric bookshop at 33 Store Street, London, WC1E 7BS.

My Copy of the Austin Osman Spare Tarot has Arrived!

This is the latest addition to my tarot collection - the long-awaited Austin Osman Spare Tarot Deck. The famous chaos magician hand-painted the originals for this unique set of cards, but it's only now been reproduced in a facsimile form available to ordinary witches like me. 

Strange Attractor Press produced a book about the set, Lost Envoy: The Tarot Deck of Austin Osman Spare, back in 2016, and has now published the cards themselves. Eager to get a copy, I backed the kickstarter in 2022, and am very happy to have finally received my parcel. The picture above shows what was inside the box: 

• The AOS tarot cards
• A bag to put them in
• A copy of The Lost Envoy book
• Another book reproducing The Tarot by SL MacGregor Mathers and How to Tell Fortunes by the Cards by Rapoza
• Postcards with images from the cards
• A badge

This all came in a nice presentation box with Spare's monogram. I'm looking forward to using the cards and will do a reading for the world with them soon.

Pagan Eye: Books In Good Company at Treadwell's

The photo at the top was taken by Rob Rider Hill, who pointed out that his publication, The Black Chapbook, was next to my own Gothic novel Erosion. I spotted Rebecca Beattie's books on the Wheel of the Year and The Way Through the Woods on the other side of Rob's introductory primer on magic. I very much felt my book was in excellent company!
