The cat and the fox

It seems the vixen that lived at the end of my garden for most of the year is no longer in residence.

The cosy fox hole she dug into my leaf pile is now being used by a stray cat.

I've noticed the white-faced moggy sleeping there several times over the past week. Yesterday, it poked its head out of the leaves and managed to take this picture.

As much as I like cats, I hope the fox returns and that there are more cubs running around in my garden in the spring. Or maybe there will be a litter of kittens for me to try to find a home for...

You're right, she does have a moon face. If the cat really is a she, perhaps I should call her Luna.
