The Bad Witch's five minutes of fame

I've been interviewed by The Independent!

The feature was published on Saturday for the Halloween issue of the Independent Magazine, under the title First Person 'I am a Modern-day Witch'.

You can see it online at http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/profiles/first-person-i-am-a-modernday-witch-1810972.html

Feature writer Charlotte Philby phoned me up a couple of weeks ago to ask if she could interview me. I agreed, although I must admit I was rather nervous about it. Some newspapers treat witches as a bit of a joke and I certainly didn't want to be depicted as weirdo of the week.

I needn't have worried though. The published article was very fair, non-judgmental and well written. I thought Charlotte did a good job.

There was one little mistake I noticed - in the interview I mentioned that my grandma was a Theosophist, but I obviously didn't speak clearly enough as I am quoted as saying my gran was a follower of "philosophism". With any luck it will have been corrected on the internet version of the interview by the time anyone reads it today.

The Independent also sent photographer Dominick Tyler to take some pictures of me. I asked him not to photograph my face as I prefer to keep a little anonymity and he managed to take some lovely photographs despite the fact that I was looking away from the camera.
