Freya: The Bad Witch's Goddess of the Week

Thanks God it's Friday! Or perhaps that should be thank Goddess it's Friday, as Friday means "Freya's Day".

Freya is the Norse goddess of love, beauty and fertility as well as war, death, magic and prophecy. Friday is also associated with another goddess of love, Venus, and Romans called it dies Veneris, or "Venus' Day".

I have chosen Freya as the Bad Witch's Goddess of the week partly because Friday, and the end of the working week, is always a day to celebrate, but also because I saw a rather lovely statue of Freya (pictured right) on the website Pagan Magic.

Although the statue shows her standing in a rather alluring pose, she is often depicted driving a chariot drawn by two cats. I think you would need to be a goddess to get two cats to do what you want at the same time!
