THE AMALANTRAH RE-WORKING
by Gary Dickinson

A frequent and popular presenter at our Moot, tonight Gary will take us through arguably one of the most important periods of Aleister Crowley's life. During his time in the United States at the end of the First World War, Crowley worked with Roddie Minor to receive communications from the Wizard Amalantrah. His interactions with this character had far reaching implications for Crowley's understanding of the I Ching, the Tao and the entire Eastern mystery system.

Gary Dickinson is a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society. He worked in the field of Chinese art for over twenty years and his 'Imperial Wardrobe: Court Dress of the Qing Period' is regarded as a major source-work on the subject. He was the consultant for the Oscar award-winning costumes for Bertolucci's 'The Last Emperor'. Gary has lectured extensively throughout the world, most recently at the Victoria & Albert Museum. Gary is also a practitioner of I Ching divination with over thirty-years expertise and currently offers consultations with the ancient oracle at The Atlantis Bookshop.
