Event: Pendle Concert under the Hill to Mark Witch Walk

Pendle Witch Walk, the charity event planned to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the Pendle Witch Trials this August in Lancashire, is promote a live music event on Barley Green, in partnership with Pendle Leisure Trust. The event aims to break a world record for the biggest gathering of “witches” and was recently approved by Guinness World Records™ as an official world record attempt.

The event itself – set for August 18th - is a five-mile circular sponsored walk from the village of Barley and will take in the summit of Pendle Hill. Walkers are now set to be rewarded with a line up of acts to entertain them on their return to Barley Green. All registered walkers will get free entry to the live event.

The acts announced for the live show are Vicky and The Big Combo (Soul/R&B), Lancashire Sinfonietta, Leyland Brass Band, Arion Male Voice Choir and Russell Shaun (swing/big band).

Alison Goode, the executive manager at Pendle Leisure Trust, said: “Pendle Witch Walk looks set to be a tremendous event and one of the highlights of the 400th anniversary of the Pendle Witch Trials. We’ve been working closely with the organisers and we’re really excited about the plans for the whole day – which will see a walk through some of the finest countryside in the country, a world record attempt and then to cap it all off, a fantastic live music event!”

People can register for the event at www.pendlewitchwalk.co.uk. While fancy dress is not compulsory, all walkers are being urged to attend in witch-style fancy dress (black, pointy, wide-brimmed hat; full-length black cape; and broomstick) in order to help break the world record for the biggest gathering of witches.

The aim of Pendle Witch Walk is to mark the 400th anniversary of the witch trials with a family oriented event that shows off the very best of Pendle – with its glorious countryside, magnificent hill and tumultuous history! Pendle Witch Walk also aims to be a major fundraiser for Pendleside Hospice.
