This weekend and over the coming week Pagans are celebrating Lammas - or the festival of the first fruits of the harvest. Celebrated at the end of July or start of August, the festival is sometimes called Lughnasadh in honour of the Celtic God Lugh. Here are some events taking place in London and within travelling distance of the capital over Lammas:

Saturday 28 - Sunday 29 July; The Eastbourne Lammas Festival. Two-day festival with a seafront procession, live music, belly dancing, Morris dancing, stalls, pagan ceremonies and more. Saturday 28 July; Free and Open Gorsedd Lughnasadh Rite - Druidic ceremony to celebrate the First Harvest at Avebury Stone Circle, Wiltshire. Meet at the Red Lion pub from noon for ceremony around 1.30pm. Free event, bring food and drink to share. The overflow car park will be available for camping on Saturday 28 July, tents down by 2pm Sunday.

Sunday, 29 July; Anderida Gorsedd Lughnasadh open ritual at the Long Man of Wilmington, Sussex. Meet near the car park between 1.30pm and 2pm for a walk up to the chalk hill figure at 2pm. Afterwards back to the Giants Rest pub in Wilmington for a social drink together.

Sunday 5 August; Pagan Pride in Nottingham. Huge free festival to celebrate Pagan diversity starting at 10.30am in Nottingham Market Square with a procession through Nottingham City Centre to the City Arboretum where from noon to 6pm there will be a free Pagan festival of live music, speakers, stalls and activities for the young and old as well as a real ale bar.
