Spring Equinox and International Day of Happiness

Today, as well as being the Spring Equinox, is International Day of Happiness. This is to recognise that everyone, all over the world, has a right to be happy - and we can all do something to help spread happiness around us. If you are in London, you can take part in International Happiness Day this evening at Liverpool Street Station.

A group called Wake Up London is inviting everyone of all ages, backgrounds, faiths and cultures to a free event. Meet up in front of Scribbler, in the Broadgate concourse, inside Liverpool Street Station from 6.30pm to 7.30pm this evening, Wednesday 20 March, to spread some positive messages on placards and generally have fun.

The idea is that people will write big, happy messages on placards - such as "You are Perfect", "Follow Your Heart" or just "Be Happy!" Then everyone will walk around with their placards to share the happiness, before meeting back at 7.30pm, presumably for a big group hug. It is free to take part. Just bring yourself and, if possible, a sign you have made with a lovely message on it.

Wake Up London is a community of young people, aged between 16 to 35, who come together to practice the art of mindfulness in the midst of everyday life, inspired by the teachings of Zen Buddhist master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh.
