Pagan Events Over May Day Bank Holiday Week


Friday 3 May - Monday 6 May; Hastings Jack-in-the-Green Festival. Tradtional annual event to celebrate May with music, a procession, Morris Dancing, a May Queen and Jack-in-the-Green. For full details visit the festival website: http://www.hastingsjack.co.uk/

Saturday 4 May; Druidic ceremony to celebrate Beltaine at Avebury stone circle in Wiltshire. Meet at the Red Lion pub from Noon for ceremony around 1.30pm. The ritual should end at 3pm, then back to the pub. Offerings of bread, mead and song or poetry welcome. Overnight camping is allowed in the overflow car park.

Saturday 4 May; Beltaine Sabbat Rite organised by the London Wicca Meetup Group. A traditional Wiccan rite to celebrate Beltane at a location in Wimbledon. Saturday 4 May; Hendon Heathens Moot. The Greyhound, Church End, Hendon, London NW4 4JT. 6pm until 9pm (then over the road at a blues and rock club until the early hours). This moot meets on the first Saturday each month.

Sunday 5 May; Druidic May Day (Beltane) Celebration on Primrose Hill with the Loose Association of Druids. Gather in the Hawthorne Grove at Primrose Hill, London, NW1 8YH, between 12.30pm and 12.45pm to prepare the site ready for a prompt 1pm start. Nearest tube: Chalk Farm. Bring a small contribution of food and drink to share. All are welcome.

Sunday 5 May; Beltane at Butser Ancient Farm, Chalton Lane, Chalton, Hants. The event starts at 4.30pm with music and festivities, ending with the burning of a Wicker Man at sunset.
