Thanks for this wonderfully informative post, Lucya, bringing together news items and reviews that are helping to bring our path more and more into the spiritual mainstream, and more accepted in the mundane world. It'll be a while yet before we're all free of the broom closet in all company - but we're getting there, and hopefully one day people will see the Craft with more discerning eyes and not lump us all into the 'hubble bubble devil worship' misconception that's prevailed for too long.
Oh but the Witch of Kings Cross and the guy who owned the house that was attacked by an arsonist really were Satanists
Ah yes, but showing aspects of the dark side gives a balanced view and shows that we good witches are in the majority! We need to know about the bad stuff so we're equipped to fight it!
To be honest, although I am not a Satanist, most Satanists of the LaVey type are actually atheists who believe in hedonism. I have no problem with them at all. The poor bloke whose house was burnt down was apparently a nice guy.
I do agree that the general public don't have enough understanding that pagan witches and satanic witches and christian witches are different types of witches though. They all do witchy stuff, but they have different religious backgrounds.
