However, the mythology website, www.pantheon.org/mythica.html says Sri is: "The Indonesian rice-goddess, equivalent of the Indian goddess Lakshmi. Sri is the goddess of the earth and the mother of the Javanese people."
It goes on to say that she is unique in the Balinese pantheon as being one of the few deities not deriving from Hinduism. Yet despite this confusion over her origins, she is widely worshipped as being a great benefactress.
