Vote for your favourite Yule song

Thanks to everyone who sent details of great pagan songs for Yule. I've now posted a poll so anyone who wants to can vote for their favourite.

You'll have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the poll, but here are the songs you can vote for:

Jethro Tull's Ring Out Solstice Bells from the album Songs from the Wood
The Dolmen's Bringing the Outside In
Loreena McKennitt's To Drive The Cold Winter Away
The traditional carol The Holly and The Ivy
Mother Tongue's themed album This Winter's Night
Hawkwind's recent album Yule Ritual
Emerald Rose's Santa Claus is Pagan, Too
Jethro Tull's Jack Frost and the Hooded Crow from the album The Broadsword and the Beast

The poll closes on December 24.

Is there no version of Deck the Halls, which never did get changed from the Yuletide song that it is and always has been?

You're right. Deck the Halls should have been on that list. Thanks for mentioning it.

Actually, I prefer something from Kari Tauring's "A Yuletide Celebration" CD - either "Winter's Come" or "Starlight Yule Bright"

Check it out on iTunes or at Cdbaby.com/kari. Good stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll try those tracks.

Jethro Tull released an entire Christmas album several years ago. The two tunes you mention have been redone for it, but I think the originals are better.

Oh, and "Jack Frost and the Hooded Crow" does not appear on Broadsword and the Beast--it first was released on 20 Years of Jethro Tull.

And it is my vote for best Yule song...even though I performed on the MotherTongue CD.

Peg A - technically we're both correct about Jack Frost and the Hooded Crow. Although it was first released on the 20 Years of Jethro Tull box set, it was an unused track recorded for the Broadsword and the Beast album. It is now actually on the Broadsword and the Beast album that can be bought from iTunes.
So we're both technically correct :-).
