On this day, 6 January 1971, Patricia Crowther's radio show A Spell of Witchcraft was first aired in Britain. Source: Llewellyn's" 2010 Witches' Calendar
Patricia Crowther was initiated as a witch by Gerald Gardner, the founder of modern Wicca, and was a public promoter of Wicca in its early days.
She formed a coven in Sheffield in 1961 with her husband Arnold Crowther and wrote several books on the subject including Witchcraft in Yorkshire, Witch blood!: The diary of a witch high priestess! and Lid Off the Cauldron: Handbook for Witches. Her most recent book came out in 2009 and is called Covensense.
A Spell of Witchcraft was produced for Radio Sheffield. Although some sources say it was actually broadcast on 7 January 1971 - a day later than the date given on the Witches' Calendar - it still claims the honour of being the first radio show in Britain on witchcraft.

Hugs,

The book might be out of print, but second hand copies could come up on Amazon marketplace.
