Here is the third in a series of lovely photographs of the moon, sent to me by James C Wallace II. The first two pictures showed a bare tree with the moon behind it and a crescent moon.This picture shows a partial lunar eclipse. A lunar eclipse is sometimes called a Blood Moon, because the moon takes on a reddish tinge. The next lunar eclipse this year will take place on December 20-21 - the time of the midwinter solstice.
