Pagan Eye: Winter Rose

Despite the snow lying thickly around my house, roses are still blooming in my garden. I felt I just had to don my wellies and warm coat to go out and photograph them.

The picture reminded me of a romantic fairy tale I read a few years ago, called Winter Roseby Patricia McKillip.

If you are into tragic love stories, then it is just the book to curl up with on a wintry night. The blurb on Amazonoffers the description:
"'They said later that he rode into the village on a horse the colour of buttermilk. But I saw him first - as a fall of light. And then as something shaping out of the light. So it seemed. There was a blur of gold: his hair. And then I blinked and saw his face more clearly.' From that moment, Rois is obsessed with Corbett Lynn. His pale green eyes fill her thoughts and her dreams are consumed by tales of his family's dark past. Of son's murdering fathers, of homes fallen to ruin, and of a curse that, as winter draws in, is crawling from the frozen forest to engulf them all."
Even if you aren't into slushy romances, I hope you like the photo.

On each Pagan Eye post, I show a photo that I find interesting, with a few words about it. I'm not quite sure what I'll be including - it could be a seasonal image, a pagan site, an event, or just a pretty picture.

If you want to send me a photo for a Pagan Eye post, please email it to badwitch1234@gmail.com Let me know what the photo shows and whether you want your name mentioned or not. For copyright reasons, the photo must be one you have taken yourself and you must confirm that you are submitting it for A Bad Witch's Blog.
