Last chance to get high

An exhibition about drugs - from ancient Egyptian poppy tinctures to Native American peyote rites to the French Romantics' opium salons to scientists' experiments with drugs and the cost of the fight against the drugs trade - has its last day today at London's Wellcome Collection.

Called High Society, it explores how these drugs were discovered, their traditional, ritual, spiritual and cultural uses - and how they came to be both fetishised and demonised in modern society.

The exhibition includes a short documentary showing an ayahuasca ceremony, historic opium equipment, fiction and non-fiction books about drugs and art inspired by drug experiences.

Admission to High Society is free and is open from 11am to 6pm. The address is the Wellcome Collection, 183 Euston Road, London NW1 2BE. For more details visit: http://www.wellcomecollection.org/whats-on/exhibitions/high-society.aspx
