News: Government scraps forest sell-off plans

The Government is scrapping its plans to sell many of England's public forests and offload the rest onto communities and charities.

Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman said: "I am sorry, we got this one wrong."

The U-turn is due to pressure from members of the public who signed petitions, protested and wrote to MPs.

However, campaigners say we need to remain vigilant in case the Government tries this again.
