My mother, who was doing so well recovering from a nasty fall a few weeks ago, is dying.
She had been in a physiotherapy centre for a few weeks, but came home last week in seemingly very good health. Over the weekend she became ill. I called a doctor who prescribed antibiotics, but said it was not serious.
On Monday morning, my mum was getting worse so I called an ambulance. She was taken to hospital and the doctors again said it was not serious, but decided to keep her in over night. She was expected to be coming home the next day or day after.
Yesterday morning, very shortly after I posted my Pancake Day blog, I got a phone call from the hospital to say mum had had a heart attack. They did their best to revive her, but she is not conscious and is not expected to recover.
I went in to the hospital immediately and I sat at her bedside all of yesterday, coming home very late last night to grab a couple of hours sleep. I am now going back to sit by her bedside again.
I might not be posting any more blog entries for little while - or I might. I just don't know what's going to happen or when.
