Pagan events over the Autumn Equinox

Here are some of the pagan events taking place over the Autumn Equinox in London and some other parts of England.

Saturday 17 - Sunday 18 September; Tasting the Pomegranate: Revisioning the Underworld. Two-day workshop with Jane Meredith, author of Aphrodite's Magic, for women in Sheffield. Sunday, 18 September; Dawn of the Oak. Monthly moot on the third Sunday of each month that aims to provide a casual, safe and friendly environment for pagans to meet and learn from each other. Location: The Castle, 34-35 Cowcross Street, Farringdon, London EC1M 6DB Time: 3pm - 6pm.

Sunday 18 September; Anderida Gorsedd Autumn Equinox open ritual at the Long Man of Wilmington, Sussex. Meet near the car park between 1.30pm and 2pm for a walk up to the chalk hill figure at 2pm. Afterwards back to the Giants Rest pub in Wilmington for a social drink together.

Friday, 23 September; Cross Bones Vigil and Ceremony to honour The Goose and the outcast dead of Cross Bones Graveyard. Gather from 6.45pm in Redcross Way outside the Memorial Gates, SE1, opposite the Boot and Flogger, just north of the junction with Union Street. Friday 23 September; Autumn Equinox Festival at Chalice Well World Peace Garden, in Glastonbury. Free admission to the gardens between 10am & 12pm for celebration and meditation at the Well Head at noon, followed by an informal gathering on the lower lawn at 12.30pm. All are welcome, as this is a chance for people to share ideas, thoughts and beliefs, and to increase connection through understanding. Saturday 24 September; Autumn Equinox rite by the Free and Open Gorsedd of Caer Abiri at The Sun Circle, Avebury stone circle, Wiltshire. Druidic style open ceremony to celebrate the balance of day and night - all faith paths welcome. Meet at the Red Lion pub at Avebury from noon for a ceremony at 2pm. Offerings of bread, cake, mead, poetry and song are welcome.

Sunday 25 September; Druidic Autumn Equinox Ceremony on Primrose Hill with the Druid of Wormwood Scrubs. This is a free, open ritual but bring food for a picnic. Pagan ways are still so alive there. Here, we try to find pathways that were blocked or altogether cut off from us. But Mama lives on, hidden in some of our traditions. And daily, we seek to reconnect.
