Festival of the Week: Earth Day
April 22 is Earth Day - an annual day on which events are held worldwide to increase awareness and appreciation of the Earth's natural environment. I've chosen it as this week's Bad Witch's Festival of the Week.
The Pagan Federation London will be holding an open event to celebrate International Earth Day 2012 this Sunday from 12pm to 3pm at Trent Park, North London.
Pagans and non-pagans are welcome to attend this family-friendly day out. The activities will include a chance to socialise, a picnic, songs and drumming, an open ritual to honour Gaia, Beltane Maypole dancing
Trent Park is reached by Cockfoster Gate on Cockfoster Road. The nearest tube is Cockfosters (on the Piccadilly line). Bring a picnic and suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor activities.
I chose the picture above to illustrate my Earth Day post because it shows the cycles of life - the stump of a dead tree rotting away and in turn becoming a home to new life while the green plants grow next to it, in the spring sunlight.
