News: Paganism in Schools and the Holy Thorn

Paganism to be Taught in Cornish Schools
I've been a bit late blogging about this news story, but the big news of the past weeks as far as I am concerned is that Paganism is to be discussed in RE lessons in Cornish schools alongside lessons on Christianity and other major religions. It is believed this is the first time witchcraft, Druidry and ancient religions have been on the RE syllabus in the UK. You can read more on Pirate FM: http://www.piratefm.co.uk/news/latest-news/659779/paganism-to-be-taught-in-cornish-schools/  I did report on a fundamentalist Catholic criticism of this move earlier this week: http://www.badwitch.co.uk/2012/04/news-controversial-views-of-paganism.html

More Damage to Holy Thorn in Glastonbury
A Holy Thorn tree that was planted in Glastonbury to replace the one damaged by vandals last year has itself been damaged by vandals. You can read the full story on the BBC website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-17735033 And you can read the earlier story here: http://www.badwitch.co.uk/2012/04/news-mystery-of-holy-thorn.html
