Robin Hood Pantomime with Herne the Hunter

Well, the world didn't end yesterday, so why not celebrate by going to a pantomime with a very pagan theme.

Robin Hood, which is this year's panto at the Greenwich Theatre in South London, has a plot featuring Herne the Hunter, the Spirit of the Forest. This is definitely one to appeal to anyone who fondly remember the Robin of SherwoodTV series from the 1980s.

I don't want to give away too many spoilers, but it has enchantments, a contest to win a magic arrow and even a fearsome dragon - along with a Maid Marian who could give Xena Warrior Princess a run for her money, a superb Naughty Nursey pantomime dame and a booingly evil Sheriff of Nottingham.

And if you think pantomimes are only really enjoyable by kids, think again. This production borrows its style heavily from such cult musicals as Return To The Forbidden Planetand Little Shop of Horrors. If you are in the London area and looking for something to do, go and see this panto. You won't regret it.

It is on until January 6 and you can book tickets here: http://www.greenwichtheatre.org.uk/
