Pagan Eye: Doorway to Another World

This trompe l'oeil showing a portal to an imaginary world is on a mausoleum as part of an art trail in West Norwood Cemetery.

The artist, Jane Ward, said: "In this piece I have ... forced perspective to make a digital collage of a ... fragmented other world, attaching it to the doorway of the mausoleum indicates a way through to this illusive place that is so at odds with the surrounding landscape, and a point at which several worlds collide."

If you want to visit the art trail, which is full of beautiful, weird and wonderful works of art, it is on at West Norwood Cemetery, in south London, until July 27, and is free to visit. There are also a series of events taking place over that time. On Saturday evening, I went to a performance there by London Dreamtime, called What Dreams May Come - I'll post some photos from that later. Later this month, on 21 July, there will be a picnic for dead at the cemetery starting at noon.

My Pagan Eye posts show photos that I find interesting - seasonal images, pagan sites, events, or just pretty pictures. If you want to send me a photo for a Pagan Eye post, please email it to badwitch1234@gmail.com Let me know what the photo shows and whether you want your name mentioned or not. For copyright reasons, the photo must be one you have taken yourself.
