Yuletide Pagan Events in London & Elsewhere

Here are some of the events in London plus a few in other parts of southern England over the Winter Solstice, Yule and New Year's Eve that could be of interest to pagans. However, you celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful Yuletide.

Now - Wednesday 28 February 2018; The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic: An exhibition dedicated to Cornwall’s most magical Museum, featuring photographs from Of Shadows: One Hundred Objects from The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic by Sara Hannant and Simon Costin. Tuesday 19 December; Wicca New Moon Circle: Calling Chiron - Wounded Healer Warrior Teacher with London Woodland Witches Magicians and Outdoor Pagans. Meet at The Woodman's Pub, Archway Road, Highgate, at 7.30pm to walk to the woods Queens Woods. Fee: £3. You must reserve a place in advance. Tuesday 19 December; Vernacular: A Yuletide Celebration. Songs and Christmas traditions from around Britain with Lisa Knapp, Thom Ashworth, and Belinda Kempster and Fran Foote, plus storytelling and folklore from Cunning Folk. Thursday 21 December; Wheel of the Year Festival - Yule at Chalice Well World Peace Garden, in Glastonbury. Gather at the well head for midday meditation until 12.30pm, followed by conversation on the lower lawn, then Yule festivities at 2pm. Free admission to the gardens from 10am to noon. Thursday 21 December; Bonnington Square Solstice Carols. Venue: Outside the Italian Delicatessen opposite the Bonnington Centre, Vauxhall Grove, London SW8 1TD. David Spofforth, priest of Avalon, will make a blessing at about 6.30pm. Free event, just turn up.

Friday 22 December; Stonehenge Winter Solstice Managed Open Access with a celebration at sunrise at the stone circle. Free entry is allowed from 7.45am, but car parking costs £5. For full details:

Saturday 23 December; Crossbones Vigil at Christmas to honour The Goose and the outcast dead of Cross Bones Graveyard and the dead and wounded of the London Bridge attacks. Bring a flower, a ribbon, a totem or memento to tie to the shrine. Gather from 6.45pm for a 7pm start in Redcross Way outside the Memorial Gates, London SE1 1TA. For more details, visit

Saturday 23 December; Yule Winter Solstice Ceremony with Watchers of the Old Ways at the Rollright Stones, off the A3400, Chipping Norton OX7 5QB. Time: Picnic from 1pm then ritual from 2pm - 3.30pm.

Sunday, 31 December; New Year's Eve Peace Fires. Light a candle or fire for peace wherever you are in the world, for as short or long a time as you like on New Year's Eve. State the intention: “Let there be peace on earth and love for one another.” Details:
