Pagan Eye: Seeing Double by Athame, Books & Candle
Can you spot the similarities between the items on top of the books and items in the cover pictures?
I was emailed this photograph by Jane, who came to my recent candle magic workshop at Treadwell's Bookshop.
Jane said: "I noticed the candlestick on the front cover of your book is the same as one I bought in the early seventies, which I often use as a pilot light when lighting lots of other candles. Also the athame on the front cover of Jason Mankey's book is the same as mine."
What a coincidence that Jane has an old candle holder like mine and an athame like Jason's! I have to say I am really delighted to see this picture. I inherited the old candle holder I photographed for the cover of Pagan Portals - Candle Magic, from my grandmother. I treasure it.
The lantern on my book cover was one I borrowed from a friend - although I later bought one myself when I saw one for sale. The big pillar candle was given to me as a gift.
I'm next teaching a candle magic workshop at Treadwell's Bookshop, in London, on Thursday 17 October, at 7pm. It costs £20 per person. You can book online at https://www.treadwells-london.com/ or reserve a place by visiting the shop. You can buy copies of my books at Treadwells, via my publisher Moon Books, or view my author page at Amazon.
My Pagan Eye posts show photos that I find interesting - seasonal images, pagan sites, events, or just pretty pictures. If you want to send me a photo for a Pagan Eye post, please email it to badwitch1234@gmail.com Let me know what the photo shows and whether you want your name mentioned or not. For copyright reasons, the photo must be one you have taken yourself.
The photo is copyright Jane.
