Pagan Eye: Mandragora Woman Drawing by Matt Porter

This drawing is by Matt Porter, who specialises in growing poisonous plants and crafting them into magical objects. As well as sending me a copy of the picture, he wrote:

"I started a Mandragora drawing as part of a combined creation I'm preparing that is a Mandrake Whole Root Spell Box. This customised glass/wooden box will include a 3-year-old mandrake whole root, the finished drawing, a custom mandrake spell, a small jar with a red wax pentacle seal which includes 5 Mandragora Officinarum seeds, a handmade small mandrake root necklace and one Mandragora Whole Root Amulet Jar.

"The wooden frame will be painted in green and the 3-year-old mandrake whole root will be wrapped in black silk cloth. This is one of our more intricate items that we are creating and perhaps 1 of it's kind. We intend to list it for sale on eBay once completed, and so far it has been a delight creating it."

I would love to see a picture of it once it's finished, and I'd be happy to mention where it is for sale. In the run-up to Yule I intend posting more about handmade witchy things you can buy as presents from independent shops and crafters.

You can find links to more of Matt's photos at the bottom of this post, including freshly harvested mandrake roots, a mandrake becoming a poppet, monkshood, and hemlock.

My Pagan Eye posts show photos that I find interesting - seasonal images, pagan sites, events, or just pretty pictures. If you want to send me a photo for a Pagan Eye post, please email it to badwitch1234@gmail.com Let me know what the photo shows and whether you want your name mentioned or not. For copyright reasons, the photo must be one you have taken yourself.

The photo at the top is copyright Matt Xai Malachi Porter.
