My Local Library: Newly Restored + Occult Shelfies!

One of my local libraries has just reopened after being refurbished. I popped along to have a look and was seriously impressed. Not only is it lovely inside, with lots of reading desks, computer access, cosy nooks with comfy chairs, and of course lots of books, it has a rather impressive paranormal section.

The library I'm talking about is in Beckenham, on the border of South East London. It's a short walk from where I live in Penge - which also has a library, but somewhat smaller. The picture at the top shows one corner of the Beckenham Library reading room area. Doesn't it look a great place to study, work or just sit and read?

Libraries are amazing resources offering free books to read as well as free work and study space. As a writer, I find libraries far less full of distractions than my own home. They are also nice and warm so I don't have to put my own central heating on and can save money that way.

But what about those occult books? Well, look at the picture in the middle of this post to see the Paranormal corner and a couple of close-up shelfies in a collage. The library also has a really good range of fiction and other non-fiction titles, including some books for academic undergraduate-level study. It is open every day except Thursdays and Sundays, with a late evening on Mondays.

The photo below shows the outside of the building. Beckenham Library is at 22 Beckenham Rd, BR3 4PE. You can find out more here: https://www.better.org.uk/library/london/bromley/beckenham-library

This has prompted me to decide to do more blog posts about libraries. If you would like to share a picture of a library you visit with details of where it is and what you like about it, feel free to email me at badwitch1234@gmail.com
