Twelfth Night has come and gone, the decorations are down and many people are left with a sad, bare tree they don't know what to do with.In centuries past, people would heft the remains of their yuletide greenery outdoors and ceremoniously burn it to get rid of the old and usher in the new.
Nowadays, that would not be considered very friendly to the environment. Neither is dumping your old tree in the street, like the one I photographed earlier today.
Most boroughs run schemes to recycle unwanted Christmas trees. If you don't know where to take yours, phone your local council.
