The Secrets of Stonehenge

Last year, BBC's Timewatch did a programme on Stonehenge showing evidence the stone circle was an ancient site for healing. Now Channel 4 is doing a Time Team Special called The Secrets of Stonehenge, which has a different theory - that Britain's most famous Neolithic monument was actually a ceremonial site for the remains of the dead, helping the departed pass into the afterlife.

Hosted, as usual, by Tony Robinson, the programme examines the work of archaeologists digging at Stonehenge over six years, culminating in excavations in the inner circle of stones in 2008.

The Secrets of Stonehenge is on Channel 4 on Monday night, June 1, at 9pm.

I'm definitely looking forward to it.

A Time Team book called The "Time Team" Guide to What Happened When is available through Amazon for £14.

Aren't the stones set up in such a way to produce some sort of visual effect on the summer solstice?

A recent study shows that Stonehenge was designed to face the winter solstice.

My blog uses Blogger, which is a Google products and I don't have any control over the actual software it uses so I'm not sure what I can do to solve the problems you are experiencing in internet explorer. If you let me know what version of IE you are using, and precisely what the problem is, I will email the Blogger team and let them know.
