A full moon and signs of spring

There is a full moon this Sunday.

According to the online Pagan Calendar, February's full moon is associated with ice and snow. Its Celtic name is Moon of Ice and its neo-pagan name is Snow Moon.

However, as it falls on the very last day of the month, I am really hoping all the ice and snow are far behind us.

As the first signs of spring are definitely here, with crocuses flowering in my garden, I think I prefer the name Quickening Moon, given to it by the Llewellyn's 2010 Witches' Calendar.

The full moon is on Sunday 28 February at 4.38pm London time, but its effects will last for a day and night either side.
The photograph of the full moon was taken by Trish Hart

Still snow here, too, and no signs of spring just yet.
