Wicca Dangers tract author speaks out

The author of Wicca and Witchcraft: Understanding the Dangershas written a piece in The Catholic Herald defending her stance on Wiccans and witches, but saying that "Wicca can be an important stage in spiritual growth for a young person".

Elizabeth Dodd, who claims she was a Wiccan when she was in her teens, says she intended the leaflet primarily "to inform Catholics about the realities of Wicca – eg that it isn’t Satanism".

She also says she is disappointed that instead of helping Catholics understand Wiccans better, "it appears to have re-ignited the persecution complex among Wiccans that I was hoping to diffuse".

The pamphlet, published by The Catholic Truth Society, was described by newspaper The Daily Mail as a guide to help Catholics convert Wiccans to Christianity. It has sparked considerable controversy.
