I saw this woodpecker on the apple tree in my garden, tapping on a hollow branch until a cat chased it away. The cat then sat hopefully on the branch for some time, sniffing the hollow and not sure where the woodpecker had gone.
According to the book Birds - Divine Messengers, seeing a woodpecker means security. I like that; I could certainly do with a bit of financial security right now and also a bit more security in my home - as I nearly lost my chimney in the storms last week and will have to get that and my roof fixed quite soon!
