Pagan Eye: Chamomile Growing in my Local Park

I spotted chamomile growing on the edge of my local park, very near where I saw a murder of crows recently. The photo is one I took. I'm glad the gardeners leave patches of wildflowers for birds and insects to enjoy, as well as bringing spots of bright colour to the green lawns.

Chamomile is one of the most popular herbal teas, or herbal infusions, but if you buy it as dried ingredients in a packet you might not know that the flowers look like large daisies and the leaves are delicate fronds. In folk remedies, the herb has the reputation of being anti-inflammatory and relaxing.

According to Rachel Patterson in A Kitchen Witches World of Magical Plants and Herbs, chamomile can be used in spells to attract money. One way of doing this is to wash all your coins in cold chamomile tea and sprinkle a little onto the notes too.

It can also be used in spells connected to sleep, dreams, and bringing calm after a row. One way of doing this is to create a sachet of the herb and make a wish for a tranquil home and sweet dreams. You could put the sachet under your pillow for a restful night. If you have an altar, place flowers on it when praying or wishing for peace. In the links at the bottom you can find a jar spell to heal bitterness.

On each Pagan Eye post, I show a photo that I find interesting, with a few words about it. I'm not quite sure what I'll be including - it could be a seasonal image, a pagan site, an event, or just a pretty picture. If you want to send me a photo for a Pagan Eye post, please email it to badwitch1234@gmail.com Let me know what the photo shows and whether you want your name mentioned or not. For copyright reasons, the photo must be one you have taken yourself and you must confirm that you are submitting it for A Bad Witch's Blog.
