I loved the effect of the sun on the water against a dark sky when I took this photograph of sailing boats taking part in a regatta. It was a day of very mixed weather - sunny one moment then sudden torrential rain the next. In medieval times, superstition said that witches were often to blame for storms at sea. I don't think my presence had hexed the race, but I did feel sorry for the sailors who were having to deal with almost everything the elements could throw at them.

The past few days here in NC have been full of sudden, violent, but short storms. Apparently I need to make peace with the neighbors.
There have been quite a few sudden storms in southern England too. I think I get on OK with the neighbours though.
