Television: Secrets of the Stonehenge Skeletons

Every few months, it seems, someone comes up with a new theory about the origins of Stonehenge, what it was used for or why the megalithic monument was eventually abandoned. This Sunday evening Channel 4 will be showing a documentary called Secrets of the Stonehenge Skeletons, which claims to offer some original insights.

The programme examines the findings of Professor Mike Parker Pearson, who has analysed some of the bone fragments and skeletons archaeologists have found at England's most famous ancient stone circle.

On its website, Channel 4 says: "The results of that investigation overturn the accepted view on when Stonehenge was built and what it was built for, providing compelling evidence that it once united the people of Britain."

It also says: "The programme proves that the monument we know today was not the original Stonehenge and answers the mystery of its sudden decline."

I'll certainly be watching out of interest. The documentary is on the telly at 8pm, on Sunday 10 March.
