Witchcraft Event in 2014: A Day For Patricia Crowther

The Centre for Pagan Studies is running a day called A Witchcraft Conference in Honour of Patricia Crowther on Sunday 6 April 2014. This follows on from the previous conferences: A Day for Doreen Valiente, A Day for Gerald Gardner and A Day With Ronald Hutton, which were not-to-be-missed events for anyone interested in Wicca.

The event is intended to honour the achievements and contribution to the witchcraft and pagan community of Patricia Crowther, who was initiated into Wicca by Gerald Gardner in 1960 and is considered to be one of the leading teachers of the Craft. Her books include Witchcraft in Yorkshireand Covensense.

The Centre for Pagan Studies said: "Patricia is one of the few remaining contemporaries of Gerald Gardner and has to be considered one of the true Elders of the Craft. She was initially reluctant to allow us to hold a day in her honour but we have persuaded her that the Craft and pagan communities deserve their chance to pay her their respects and celebrate her so we are very pleased to announce that all being well she will be our guest of honour on the day."

There will also be talks by Vivianne and Chris Crowley, Rufus and Melissa Harrington, Philip Heselton and Patricia's friend and astronomy expert, John Harper.

Previous conferences took place in London, but the Day for Patricia Crowther will be held in Nottingham, which is close to Patricia's home town of Sheffield. Nottingham is also the home of Pagan Pride, which will be helping to run the event along with GreenMantle magazine. The venue is Notthingham's Masonic Halls, also known as The Belgrave Rooms, at 25 Goldsmith St, Nottingham NG1 5LB . It is less than five minutes' walk from the city centre's market square. (See the map at the top of this page)

The doors open at 10am and close at 6pm. There will be refreshments and lunch available as well as Pagan stalls and an exhibition from the Doreen Valiente Collection. Tickets cost £15 and can be booked online at the Doreen Valiente website. For more information, email: events@centre-for-pagan-studies.com

Will definitely try to make this. Nottingham is pretty close to us, Lucya, if you need a bed!
