Review: Pagan Portals - Sun Magic by Rachel Patterson

Kitchen witch Rachel Patterson's books area always delightfully written, informative and highly practical. Her latest is Pagan Portals - Sun Magic - a companion to her book on Moon Magic.

The book starts with facts about the solar cycle, then quickly moves on to ways in which we can use the energy, light and symbolism of the sun for magic.

Publisher Moon Books describes it as: "An introduction to working with sun magic, how to live in harmony with the solar year and to utilise all the magical powers it provides. Sun Magic is a book filled with the basics of the sun cycle, the representations and correspondences, what magic to work and when. It also looks at the solar year, sun deities, sun spells, meditations, specific sun rituals, sun recipes and more."

Other things it covers are herbs and crystals associated with the sun, the power of solar eclipses and rainbows, magical crafting projects to honour the sun, and candle rituals for dawn, dusk and any time the sun is shining

All the books in the Pagan Portals series are primarily intended as concise introductions to specific topics in paganism and witchcraft. Sun Magic is that and more. As well as being the perfect book for anyone starting on a magical journey to work with the power of the sun, it is an ideal reference book for those with years of experience in the Craft.

With the Summer Solstice approaching, this makes wonderful witchy reading.

Rachel Patterson is High Priestess of the Kitchen Witch Coven and an Elder at the online Kitchen Witch School of Natural Witchcraft. Her earlier books include Witchcraft - Into the Wilds, Grimoire of a Kitchen Witch, and Pagan Portals - Moon Magic.

Pagan Portals - Sun Magic can be viewed on Amazon. It is officially published at the end of this month.
