Poetry of Witchcraft: Should You Tell?

This poem was inspired by listening to a talk on historic witchcraft accusations, visiting Colchester Castle, and looking at a painting by Ithell Colquhoun called Dance of the Nine Maidens.

Should you tell?

Where do you go
to dance in secret
to a drum that only
you can hear?

Who do you meet
at dusk or midnight
answering the call
that woos your soul?

What do you dare
in dreams or fancies?
And what do you know
of things hidden there?
