I've backed an exciting Kickstarter project. Strange Attractor Press, in association with The Magic Circle Museum, are aiming to bring out a second edition of Lost Envoy – the Tarot Deck of Austin Osman Spare and, for the first time, a facsimile reproduction of the artist’s actual deck of cards.
The history is that in 2013, curator and artist Jonathan Allen discovered a 79-card, hand-painted tarot deck created around 1906 by the famed 20th century London artist and mystic Austin Osman Spare. In 2016, London-based Strange Attractor Press published Lost Envoy, a hardback book with colour images. The new edition contains extra material. They also want to produce a physical edition of the deck, hence the Kickstarter.
You can back it at different levels, including a small pledge just to help out, or to get the book, the deck, or both together.
The photo was sent to me when the original edition of Lost Envoy came out, showing the interesting way Spare designed the cards to flow together.
