Samhain Shopping: Museum of Witchcraft Toy Theatre

If you're looking for original Halloween entertainment, I don't think you can get anything much more perfect than this toy theatre inspired by the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic!

I spotted it when I was at Pollocks Toy Museum in London on Saturday for a late night storytelling evening by London Dreamtime. The ticket including a chance to explore the amazing museum, which is full of dolls, games and other toys from bygone times. I'm sure I'll be blogging more about the museum itself at a future date, but this toy theatre most caught my eye as being something I had to include in my Samhain Shopping posts.

It was made as a collaboration between Pollock’s Toy Museum and The Museum of Witchcraft in Cornwall, which explores British magical practices from ancient times to the present day. The artwork was inspired by the folk tales of Cornwall and the MWM collection.

Pollocks Toy Museum was originally a toy theatre publisher back in the 19th century, and still retains the old plates and printing equipment. The toy museum shop still sells a range of toy theatres as well as reproductions of other vintage toys and games.

The MWM theatre comes flat and needs to be constructed, using cutting, folding and glueing. You can colour the pieces in or leave them black and white. It includes a set of characters and scene changes for owners to stage their own stories.

The MWM Toy Theatre costs £25. You can buy copies in person at Pollock's Toy Museum, 1 Scala Street, London, W1T 2HL or order online via the museum website: https://www.pollockstoymuseum.co.uk/
