Equinox Tarot: Wicca Moon's King & Queen of Swords

I drew a tarot card for the world as we approach the equinox. The deck I used was the Wicca Moon Tarot and I turned over the King and Queen of Pentacles. This deck depicts the kings and queens together on single cards for each suit. Shirlee, who designed the set, explained she did this 'to bring their elemental energies into balance as a manifestation of power.' That sense of balance seems particularly appropriate for the energy as the days and nights are equal length.

The suit of swords relates to autumn, which is of course the season here in England, where I live. It also represents maturity, the element of air, and things to do with the mind. This card is about ideas manifested and about balancing clear thinking with love. The Sword court cards can sometimes represent people who are clever but have sharp tongues. However, this depiction shows they can be gentle in their guidance too. The message here is to try to attempt that balance in our interactions with others.

All of the characters in the Wicca Moon Tarot are real people - pagans and witches from South London who Shirlee knows. The King and Queen of Swords are Nicky and Chas, who helped Shirlee set up her shop: Wicca Moon in Eltham. She said they were very helpful and supportive.

In autumn 2019 I drew another couple from this deck as a reading for the world. Then it was the King and Queen of Pentacles. You can find that post here

Copies of The Wicca Moon Tarot can be bought at the shop at 50 Well Hall Road, London SE9 6SH or online
