Book Review: Hestia, Goddess of Hearth & Home

Coming out this month is a new title in Moon Books' Pagan Portals series - Hestia: Goddess of Hearth, Home and Community. I was given the chance to read the book before it was published. I thought it was really good, and wrote this endorsement:

Hestia is the Greek Goddess of the hearth fires, the home, and the community. She is a virgin Goddess in that she chose to remain single. However, she was also at the heart of family life for people in Classical times, being honoured in the fire that burnt at the centre of every home. Unlike most other Greek deities, she is peace-loving and promotes harmony in the community. In this lovely book, Irisanya Moon delves into Hestia’s history and mythology, but also shows how she can be venerated by modern Pagans. Irisanya offers a range of practical ways to develop a relationship with Hestia, including visualisation, storytelling, cookery, cleaning the home, serving the community, and engaging in hearth magic. This book is a superb introduction to Hestia’s place in the Greek pantheon as well as an insightful guide to working with her today.
