I've upcycled an empty coffee tin into a storage box for witchy stuff, but it also works well as a small drum. I do love it when things have multiple purposes!
All I did was cover the outside of the tin with lovely pictures from an old calendar. Here's how:
- Get an old tin and some pictures to cover it
- Measure the pictures carefully
- Cut them neatly into shape
- Glue them in place
You can also glaze the outside using some dilute PVA glue once they pictures are stuck and dry.
The coffee tin was made of mixed materials, which aren't regularly recyclable. Upcycling is both good for the environment and saves money. I was interviewed on budget-friendly witchcraft for the Witching Around podcast with Raegan. It went up last weekend. You can find the episode here.
March 18 is Global Recycling Day, so you could try out this project, or some of my other crafty suggestions then. Here are some of my earlier witchcraft on a shoestring and upcycling posts:
- Journals and Books of Shadows
- Rattle from a crisps tube
- Charm bracelet from upcycled paper
- Tarot card bag
- Mini broomstick jewellery hanger
You can also find more ideas for seasonal makes in my book Pagan Portals - Rounding the Wheel of the Year, published by Moon Books.
