When I recently interviewed Lisa about her writing, she told me this is her personal favourite out of all her books. I was keen to read it from what she said. What I particularly like about A Traveler's Guide to Making Magic is that it's really comprehensive. Lisa not only provides a huge amount of magical information, she also offers practical tips for travellers and personal anecdotes based on her own extensive experience of visiting countries all over the world.
The description on publisher Crossed Crows's website says:
Travel puts us all in liminal spaces. But despite many practitioners’ affinity for spaces betwixt and between, they come along with practical and magickal dilemmas. A Traveler’s Guide to Making Magic provides templates and examples for practicing in a broad range of locations and circumstances. Pagans and witches alike will find utility in this book worth a spot in their suitcase.
A Traveler’s Guide to Making Magic explores the practical, the magickal, and the ethical of responsible and sustainable travel. Through travel-specific charms and spells, as well as divination for the path ahead, Lisa McSherry provides an experienced and insightful guide for modern practitioners seeking to incorporate a little bit of magick into their everyday journeys.
I very much applaud Lisa for emphsising ethical considerations when travelling, which includes being respectful of the environment, customs and cultures anywhere you visit.
