Poetry: Darkness

I've been writing a poem or two every month this year. Here's my poem for December, and the final one for 2022. I hope you like it.

Darkness

Darkness is welcome
When I am warm, fed, loved;
When I know what's there
In the lack of light

I can sense
The softness of sheets,
The scent of you,
Stillness, not silence.

I hear you breathe
And it comforts me
To whisper wishes
As night embraces us both
And the world feels safe
For now.
