Poem for the Wheel of the Year: Under the Solstice Sun

One of my resolutions for 2025 was to write a poem for each of the eight festivals in the Pagan Wheel of the Year. The Summer Solstice is this Saturday, June 21st. I wrote the words below a few days ago, not only about the Solstice in general, but also about the current situation many of us are facing this year.

We are at the tipping point,
Change the only constant.
Victors are always vanquished,
eventually.

The Wheel turns
even when it seems still.
It has no top or bottom
except in perspective.

The longest day
is no longer that tomorrow.
The sun is harsh
for those who burnt.

Take to the shadows
if you must,
for you will have
your time too.

Dancing by moonlight
in joy, and love, and
that for all existences
if you cannot dance today
in your true colours
under the Solstice sun.
