Review: We’Moon 2026 Calendar and Datebook

For several years now I've been using the We'Moon calendar and datebook - or diary - to keep track of what I'm doing. I got the 2026 editions recently and I'm already filling it up with events, talks and workshops for the year to come. But the We'Moon datebook is more than just something to scribble appointments in. It has astrological and moonphase information plus articles on topics including herb lore, holy days, tarot and women's spirituality. 

Every year has a different theme, and for 2026 it's Full Circle. Every new year is a chance to return to the beginning of the wheel of the seasons, but the emphasis here is to mark important points in various other esoteric cycles too, including astrology, tarot and the full moon in lunar observations. 

Circles also have other meanings, including our communities, our friends, our family, and the groves and covens we might celebrate with. The We'Moon datebook points out the importance of renewing our connection with those circles, because together we have more strength and support than we do alone. If you are a solitary pagan, the datebook shares rituals, prayers and poetry to help you celebrate the Wheel of the Year in full, and feel part of the We'Moon community.

The  calendar and datebook share the same beautiful art - although much larger on the calendar of course. I always find the pictures inspiring to have on my wall, and I particularly like the ones I'll be seeing throughout 2026

I should perhaps point out that the We'Moon calendar and datebook are published in America, so some of the details on holidays and the like will be a bit different in other countries, but I know many of my readers are based in the USA. Review: We'Moon 2024 Luminations Diary & Calendar

I'm delighted to have been given a copy of the 2024 We'Moon Datebook, which is a moon calendar and a collection of art and writing by creative women from around the world. I was also give the We'Moon wall calender, which is also lovely and useful.

The gift was perfect timing as I'm already scheduling things to do in 2024. I much prefer to have a diary that's beautiful rather than purely functional - and this is both. There's oodles of space for writing in but also an astrology guide and moon phase planner, plus poetry, prose and inspiring artwork.

This is what it says on the publisher Mother Tongue Ink's website: 

"Each year We'Moon weaves threads of intention into this wonderful moon calendar. Each edition has a theme, and currently, our themes are based on one of the eight moon phase cycles. The diary is in a week-at-a-glance format, which I like, and offers a moon phase planner with moon signs and daily astrological info. I should mention that this is an American publication so the astrological data is in Pacific Standard Time. I live in England, so it isn't perfect for me, but I can convert it and I think quite a few who read my blog are US-based. What I really enjoy about this diary is looking through the 100-plus images of feminist art and over 100 writings by amazing poets and storytellers. These works are all by women from many different countries.

I mentioned I have the wall calendar as well as the dairy, which is a bonus. I enjoy having a magical calendar on my kitchen wall - mostly because it gives something to look at while I'm waiting for my cats to finish eating. I have to be there as they both need different food due to allergies. If I leave them on their own they'll steal from each other's bowls!

Winter Solstice Countdown to Yule Advent Calendar

Is it too early to start thinking of Yule?

This year's Country Wisdom and Folklore 'Winter Solstice Tree' Countdown to Yule Advent Calendaris now available.

I've had them in the past and really like them, especially as they count down to Yule or Midwinter rather than Christmas.

Shop: Goddess Loves, Hugs and Hares Calendar 2014

If you haven't yet got a calendar for 2014 - or you are looking for a nice Yule present for a pagan friend, have a look at this lovely one by Wendy Andrew. Wendy is the author and artist behind Luna Moon Hare: A Magical Journey with the Goddess,which I wrote about some time ago. I saw her new calendar on her stall when I was at Witchfest a couple of weeks ago and I've been meaning to mention it on my blog ever since.

The calender is called Goddess Love, Hugs and Hares Calendar 2014 and the artwork is, as you might expect, beautiful - with seasonal images of the Goddess and hares.

On her website, Painting Dreams, Wendy says: "We are going though some challenging times of change which can make us feel unsettled and vulnerable. During these times I find myself being guided to paint images of love...nurturing...and caring. Mother Goddess holding and protecting...offering a joyous bright way ahead! Shopping: Yule Advent Calendar for the Winter Solstice

With Samhain and Bonfire Night over, I think it is time to start the Yule shopping. And one of the first things to think about, especially if you have kids, is an advent calendar or an advent candle.

For pagans who celebrate the Winter Solstice on 21 December, this Country Wisdom and Folklore Countdown to Yule Advent Calendaris rather lovely. Made by Talking Tree Books, it counts down to December 21st rather than to Christmas. Each window, when opened, shows a colour picture of a seasonal scene and a snippet of winter folklore.

This year the picture on the front is a rather beautiful white peacock, which is thought to be a very magical bird all over the world. In Wales, apparently, it is associated with weather lore.

There is also a Country Wisdom and Folklore Christmas Advent Calendar,which shows a red fox in a winter wood and counts down to Christmas.

Pagan, Witchcraft and Moon Calendars for 2013

It is that time of year when many of us choose a new calendar, either for ourselves or as a Yule gift. They do make excellent presents for pagans, especially if you pick one with lots of information about traditional festivals and moon phases as well as lovely artwork. So, following on from my post about choosing a pagan dairy, here are some of the pagan and witchy calendars for 2013.

One of the most popular pagan calenders is the Llewellyn's Witches' Calendar. It includes articles, astrological data and magical correspondences, and the 2013 Llewellyn's Witches' Calendar also has a spell or ritual for each month. Article topics include gems for the cat goddess, balance and self awareness, the rewards of winter hibernation and garden magick. Llewellyn also produces a lovely Astrological Calendar.This has horoscopes and an introduction to astrology.

Also shown in the photo on the right (which I took at the Mind, Body, Soul Experience in London, is the We'moon on the Wall 2013: The Other Side. I've not seen inside the 2013 calender, but it has the reputation of being an iconic feminist datebook as well as an astrological moon calendar and an earth-spirit guide to the cycles of nature.

The We'moon website says: "We'Moon datebook's journey through 2013 is a profound and provocative exploration of 'The Other Side' - the many other sides: of the story, of the revolution, of birth/death, of mystery. One of my favourite astrological calendars is the Astro Moon Calendar 2013.This is presented in a circular design showing the days following the cycle of the moon as she ebbs and flows.

Each month includes the moon's daily phase and sign, an astrological forecast, a look at what is visible in the night sky, pagan festivals, sun and moon rise and set times, planetary sign changes, details of eclipses, retrograde and direct planets and information about the zodiac constellations. All the times in the Astro Moon Calendar are GMT.

Another interesting and popular pagan calendar worth looking at is the Hedingham Fair Calendar of Traditional Customs, available through the Hedingham Fair website, This is full of information about folklore and traditions for the English year. You can see it pictured at the top of the page. Hedingham Fair also sells some lovely Yule cards through its website.

Shopping: Yule Advent Calendar With Winter Hare

Someone who reads my blog alerted me to this lovely advent calendar. What is unusual about it is that it marks the days until Yule, or the Winter Solstice on 21 December, rather than the days leading up to Christmas on 25 December.

The Country Wisdom and Folklore Yule Advent Calendaris by Talking Trees Books. As well as having a lovely picture of a running hare on the front, the windows open to reveal details about country lore.

Talking Tree Books also produces a Country Wisdom and Folklore Diary.

Shopping: Choosing a Pagan Diary for 2013

I always enjoy choosing a new diary for the coming year. I like to pick one that will set the right mood for the year ahead and give me lots to look forward to as the seasons turn from winter to spring, to summer and back to autumn.

I also like to pick a diary that is a bit pagan. My current one is the Earth Pathways Diary and I'm certainly thinking about buying the new one for 2013.Although I haven't seen inside the 2013 edition, the front cover is gorgeous.

Although the Earth Pathways Diary isn't specifically pagan, it is aimed at anyone who loves the Earth including environmentalists, artists, writers and those following a nature-based spiritual path. As well as having plenty of space to write in - which, let's face it, is what a diary is really for - the Earth Pathways Diary is renowned for its beautiful artwork and inspiring text. Moonshares Co-operative, the company that produces the Earth Pathways Diary is a co-operative based in the UK and is formed of artists and creative people who love the land.

In 2011, I had the Astro Diary and I was very pleased with it. I had been tempted to buy that again in 2012 and only switched to the Earth Pathways Diary because I fancied a change. I certainly might return to it for 2013, although this year it is called the Astro Moon Diary 2013As well as being a good size for entering appointments and the like, the Astro Moon Diary gives details of daily planetary movements and moon phases. It provides explanations of astrological terms and their meanings, a forecast for the year and features on things like pagan festivals. It is published by Astrocal.

Another very popular diary with witches is Llewellyn's Witches' Datebook.This includes dates for pagan festivals, information about what happened in history such as famous witch trials and the birthdays of pagan writers. Llewellyn also produces a 2013 Witches' Spell-A-Day Almanac,which isn't a diary, but does include a great spell suitable for every day of the year ahead as well as information about seasonal lore and pagan festivals.

But I do like to ring the changes and a diary that I haven't had before is the Mind, Body, Spirit Book of Days 2013. This is published by Watkins and comes in two sizes - one suitable for the desk, and another that is pocket or handbag sized. It is described as "holistic" rather than specifically pagan, and offers advice on how to get more out of life in the year ahead, including friendships, relationships, creativity, spirituality, health and well-being. I had a look through this diary when I visited the Mind Body Soul Experience and I really liked the inspirational text and artwork inside it.

I probably need to decide quite soon which diary to buy myself for 2013. I'm already getting some exciting invitations for things to do in the coming year and if I don't write them down in a sensible place I'm likely to forget them.

Starting a new diary for 2011

Yesterday, I put my first few entries into my 2011 diary.

I always think there's something exciting about starting a diary for the coming year. It is an opportunity to quite literally turn over a new leaf; to say goodbye to the old and usher in the new. It is a chance to make plans for a future that is - hopefully - an improvement on the past.

When the days are cold and the nights are long and dark, I can open a page onto the spring or summer to come and look forward to holidays, birthdays and good times ahead (neatly ignoring the fact that the diary will also get filled up with less pleasant stuff like dentist appointments and work appraisals).

Making a start on my latest diary, however, seemed a little bit more exciting than usual because it is rather different from the one I normally use.

For the past umpteen years, I have simply ordered diary refillsfor the mini Filofaxthat I bought back in the 1980s, when they were fashionable, and never got out of the habit of using.

Then, this autumn, I was given a copy of the Astro Diary 2011by Astrocal to review for pagan publication The Magical Times. If ever I had been sent a big hint that I needed to stop being a refugee from the 1980s and start using a diary more suitable for 21st century witch, this was it.

Hopefully, it will also encourage me to get more into astrology - something I have long meant to do.

As well as being a nice week-at-a-glance diary, the Astro Diary 2011 gives details of daily planetary movements and moon phases. It also has explanations of astrological terms and their meanings, combined with a forecast for the year ahead by astrology teacher Tchenka Jane Sunderland.

The introduction includes a feature on gardening according to the phases of the moon and an article about pagan fire festivals and the changing seasons - and it has nice black-and-white artwork as well.

Here's hoping the year to come will be as good as the diary I'll be writing my dates in!
